Happy 2013 to you all! May this year bring you much success and happiness.
In Australia we are looking forward to the launch of two new crowdfunding platforms – with more to follow throughout the year no doubt! I believe this is the year that we will start to see crowdfunding in our region become more widely known and accepted as a way of funding creative and entrepreneurial projects. Bring it on!
Zoshpit is Australia’s first crowdfunding platform focussed on musicians.
Chip In will be Australia’s best (so they say!) non-profit fundraising platform.
Both will be featured on the blog so stay tuned!
I’ll use the blog to keep you across some events or projects that I’m working on but here are a few that I can speak about now!
Big Data and Crowdfunding
In March I’ll be speaking at day one of the Big Data Conference. I’ll be sharing with attendees some of the data behind successful crowdfunding projects and platforms. Interestingly enough I’ll be speaking just after crowdsourcing guru Matt Barrie, CEO of Freelancer.com. You can register for the conference here.
Crowdfunding for Writers
In April I’ll be combining two of my passions – crowdfunding and writers. I’ll be running a three hour seminar at the NSW Writers’ Centre targeting writers who want to use crowdfunding to make their writing projects a reality. Every time I train writers about digital publishing options I emphasise what services are needed to create a professional products. Not everyone, myself included, have the finances available to invest in their publication so crowdfunding is a great option. I’ll be helping attendees choose what platform will work for them, what it costs and how to maximise their chances of success. Booking details on the bottom of this page.
I hope to meet some of you at these or future events.
To find out more about crowdfunding platforms and how to maximise your success with crowdfunding, purchase a copy of Crowdfund it! directly from the publisher website for $7. It is also available on ReadCloud bookseller partners, Amazon, Kobo, iBookstore, Booki.sh partner booksellers, Booku, and Bkclub.

Hi Anna,
What does NSW stand for? I’ll be speaking on a panel at the American Society for Journalists and Authors (ASJA) in New York in April, too! Same topic: how writers can leverage crowdfunding! We’ll have to share stories
Hi Rose, thanks for reading the post and commenting. The NSW Writers Centre is based in my home state of New South Wales, abbreviated to NSW. As they say on their website, they are “a government funded not for profit organisation that exists to promote writing-based culture and the rights and interests of writers in NSW.”
Very interesting timing that we are both talking on the same topic! We will definitely need to share stories and experiences! I’ll see you online.
